About Me:
About Mercy
Mercy joined the Ostomates community in May 2021 as a caregiver to her mother in love. As with most families who are taken off guard by the daily intimate needs of an ostomate, the prompt support that her family received only geared Mercy to feel obliged to dedicate some of her time to KOA.
Mercy is a ‘thinker’ who is always keen to find solutions to problems and believes most challenges faced by ostomates can be solved one way or the other through successful collaboration with more support from Government bodies, Healthcare organisations, Charities and local Communities. She therefore hopes that by joining Team KOA, she could help towards continuously working to improve access for people with intimate health care needs.
She is humbled to see that having a stoma bag allows you to still live a full on life beating most odds and she champions the mental support needed to embrace using a bag.
Mercy also is at the forefront of enlightening the wider community what KOA advocates for with the aim of eradicating the stigma associated with stoma bags and to potentially fix some of the challenges faced by Ostomates – One Day at a Time.
